Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting on behalf of a respected educational institution in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, for a Senior Early Years Educator specializing in Play-Based Learning. The role is hybrid, combining on-site interactions with planning and curriculum development remotely.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, at least five years of experience, strong understanding of child development, and the ability to mentor junior educators while

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Foundation Phase Teaching, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Early Years Educator with proven play-based learning.
• In-depth knowledge of child development theories for early years education.
• Experience in observing, assessing, and documenting children's learning.
• Strong classroom management and ability to foster positive relationships with children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to contribute to curriculum development and mentor other educators.
• Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene requirements in early learning settings.
• Adaptability to a hybrid model with on-site and remote duties.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement engaging, play-based learning experiences for children aged 2-6 years.
• Observe and assess children's development, progress, and learning styles, documenting observations to inform planning.
• Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and social-emotional development.
• Facilitate positive peer interactions and guide children in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians to share insights into their child's progress and involve them in the learning process.
• Mentor and guide junior educators, providing support and demonstrating best practices in early years education.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and development, ensuring alignment with educational frameworks and play-based learning principles.
• Maintain a well-organized and stimulating learning space, including preparation of materials and resources.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene policies and procedures.
