Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a creative Early Childhood Educator to lead play-based learning for ages 3-5 in East London. The role blends hands-on classroom activities with structured remote sessions to engage families at home.

You will design and implement a child-centered curriculum, observe progress, and adapt methods for in-person and hybrid delivery while collaborating with parents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Education qualification or equivalent certification.
• 2-3 years of experience teaching preschool or early years.
• Proven experience implementing play-based learning methodologies.
• Strong understanding of child development principles (ages 3-5).
• Proficiency in using educational technology for remote learning and parent communication.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods for both in-person and hybrid/remote delivery.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement age-appropriate, play-based curriculum and activities for preschool-aged children.
• Create a stimulating, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
• Facilitate hands-on learning experiences, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Observe and assess children's development, progress, and learning styles.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress, providing insights and suggestions for home-based activities.
• Utilize technology to deliver engaging remote learning sessions and share resources with families.
• Manage classroom routines and ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all children.
• Foster positive social skills and emotional regulation through guided play and interaction.
• Collaborate with colleagues and parents to support the holistic development of each child.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom and learning materials.
