Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Mechanical Engineer to drive the full product development lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to testing and production support. The role blends in-office collaboration with a hybrid approach across Welkom region.

You will design mechanical components, run CAD analyses, and collaborate with electronics, software, and manufacturing engineers to optimize for performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test mechanical components and sub-systems for new products.
• Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models, drawings, and schematics.
• Conduct performance, stress, and thermal analysis to ensure product reliability.
• Collaborate with electronics, software, and manufacturing engineers.
• Support prototyping and contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM).
• Document design changes and technical specifications throughout the process.
