Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer focused on automotive applications to join our Vereeniging team in a hybrid role that blends on-site collaboration with remote design and analysis work.

You will design, develop, and refine automotive components and systems, perform simulations, and ensure compliance with industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams for prototype testing and improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in automotive sector.
• Proficiency in CATIA and SolidWorks; experience with CAE/FEA tools.
• Knowledge of automotive standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949).
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills for a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and systems for automotive applications (powertrain, chassis, thermal management).
• Conduct performance simulations and structural analysis using FEA and other tools.
• Create CAD models, drawings, and specifications for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product development, manufacturing, QA).
• Participate in prototype build and test activities; analyze results and implement design changes.
• Ensure designs comply with automotive industry standards and regulations.
