Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our renewable energy team in Polokwane, Limpopo. You will support design, analysis, and execution of electrical aspects of solar, wind, and other green installations, blending on‑site fieldwork with office analysis.

The role offers hands‑on learning under supervision, with mentorship from experienced engineers and exposure to diverse projects. An internship or graduate program provides a strong start in sustainable energy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Strong foundational knowledge of electrical principles, power systems and circuit theory.
• Familiarity with renewable energy technologies (solar PV, wind) is a plus.
• Basic understanding of electrical design software (AutoCAD) and simulation tools is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong desire to learn and grow in renewable energy field.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work in a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in designing electrical systems for renewable energy projects (solar PV and battery storage).
• Perform electrical load calculations, single‑line diagram development, and basic system modeling.
• Conduct site surveys and collect technical data for project design.
• Support preparation of technical specifications, drawings and documentation for electrical components and systems.
• Assist with procurement, evaluating vendor quotations and proposals.
• Participate in site visits for installation supervision, quality checks and commissioning support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during project implementation.
• Compile data and prepare reports on project performance and findings.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in renewables.
• Contribute to a safe and efficient working environment on sites around Polokwane.
