Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Information Security Specialist to join our Randburg, Gauteng team in a hybrid role. You will protect information assets by implementing security controls, monitoring threats, and responding to incidents while collaborating closely with IT and other departments.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2–4 years in information security. Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and cloud security is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 2–4 years in information security or IT security roles.
• Solid understanding of network security, data protection, and risk management principles.
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and antivirus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Hybrid work capability; Randburg office is required.
• Cloud security experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls.
• Monitor security infrastructure for threats and vulnerabilities using various tools.
• Conduct security assessments and audits of IT systems and applications.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents with timely resolutions.
• Manage security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, and VPNs.
• Provide technical expertise and support on information security matters.
• Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and best practices.
• Assist in developing and delivering security awareness training.
• Collaborate with IT teams on security projects and initiatives.
• Document security procedures, incidents, and recommendations.
