Job summary

Placements24 invites an Educational Psychologist to Welkom, Free State, to assess, diagnose and intervene in learning, behavioral, and emotional challenges faced by children and adolescents. You will work with students, families, and schools to optimize development and academic outcomes.

You will conduct psycho-educational assessments, develop intervention plans, provide counseling, and collaborate with educators and parents to implement holistic support strategies in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Master's or Doctorate in Educational Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Registration as an Educational Psychologist with the relevant professional board (e.g., HPCSA in South Africa).
• Proven experience in psycho-educational assessments and interventions for children and adolescents.
• In-depth knowledge of child development, learning theories, and psychological disorders.
• Proficiency in a range of assessment tools and therapeutic modalities.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with children, families, and professionals.
• Experience in school or clinical settings is highly desirable.
• Empathy, patience, and a strong ethical commitment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psycho-educational assessments using standardized tests and observations.
• Diagnose learning disabilities, developmental disorders, behavioral and emotional challenges.
• Develop and implement evidence-based interventions and treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group counseling for children and adolescents.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and healthcare professionals for holistic care.
• Offer consultation to educational institutions on student well-being and learning support.
• Facilitate workshops for parents and educators on child psychology and learning strategies.
• Maintain confidential records of assessments, interventions, and progress.
• Stay updated with research and best practices in educational psychology.
• Advocate for needs of children within educational and community settings.
