Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Soweto, Gauteng. You will design, develop, implement, and support PLC-based control systems using Siemens and Rockwell platforms, and configure SCADA/HMI interfaces to optimize industrial processes.

The role demands 5+ years in control systems engineering, strong PLC/HMI expertise, and the ability to travel for site installations. Hybrid work arrangement offered to balance on-site and design tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
5+ years of experience in control systems engineering and industrial automation.
Proficiency in PLC programming languages (Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text).
Experience with major PLC and HMI platforms (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Wonderware).
Strong understanding of industrial networks and communication protocols (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
Experience with SCADA system design and implementation.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems (Siemens, Rockwell).
Develop and configure SCADA and HMI interfaces for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
Implement and troubleshoot VSDs and motor control systems.
Collaborate with clients and project teams to define system requirements and specifications.
Develop electrical schematics and control panel layouts.
Conduct system testing, validation, and performance optimization.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for installed automation systems.
Prepare technical documentation, including user manuals and commissioning reports.
