Placements24 is seeking a Construction Safety Officer for Mahikeng, North West. This hybrid role combines on-site safety leadership with essential administrative duties to ensure compliance with South African OHS regulations across construction sites.

The successful candidate will lead safety programs, conduct inspections, deliver training, and maintain comprehensive records while promoting a strong safety culture among workers and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NEBOSH) is essential.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of South African OHS Act and relevant construction safety regulations.
• Experience in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety plans for construction sites in Mahikeng .
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to all site personnel, including toolbox talks and inductions.
• Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all employees and visitors.
• Maintain safety records, documentation, and risk assessments.
• Liaise with site management, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies on safety matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization and on all project sites.
• Stay updated on current health and safety legislation and best practices in the construction industry.
