Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Health and Safety Officer to oversee safety on construction sites in and around Vereeniging. You will implement and manage safety systems, conduct regular site inspections, identify hazards, and ensure adherence to safety protocols to support safe, accident-free project completion.

The role involves conducting risk assessments, investigations, and safety audits, delivering inductions and training, and maintaining comprehensive safety records.

Formación

• A relevant qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, NOSA Diploma).
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Health and Safety Officer, specifically within the construction industry.
• Thorough knowledge of South African health and safety legislation (e.g., OHS Act, Construction Regulations).
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in using basic office software.
• Willingness to travel to various construction sites in the Vereeniging area and surrounding regions.
• A proactive approach to safety management.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, implement, and manage the company's health and safety program on construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel, including inductions for new employees and subcontractors.
• Ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all site staff and visitors.
• Maintain up-to-date health and safety records, including incident logs, inspection reports, and training documentation.
• Advise site management and project teams on health and safety matters, providing practical solutions to risks.
• Liaise with external bodies, such as the Department of Labour inspectors, as required.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization and on all project sites.
