Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Community Health Educator to develop and deliver health education programs in Queenstown and surrounding communities in the Eastern Cape. The role combines direct community engagement with focused remote work to maximize reach.

The ideal candidate will have a public health background, strong communication skills, and a passion for improving health outcomes in rural South Africa. Fluency in English and a local SA language is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, Social Work or related field.
• Proven experience in community health education or promotion.
• Strong knowledge of public health principles and South Africa health issues.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Ability to engage diverse community members and build trust.
• Experience in developing health education materials.
• Proficiency in needs assessments and program evaluations.
• Cultural sensitivity and understanding of Queenstown region.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement culturally appropriate health education programs and materials.
• Conduct health awareness campaigns and workshops on disease prevention, nutrition, and reproductive health.
• Provide individual and group counseling on health-related issues.
• Collaborate with local healthcare providers and community organizations to coordinate health services.
• Identify community health needs and priorities through surveys and assessments.
• Promote access to healthcare services and resources within the community.
• Educate community members on preventative health measures and healthy living practices.
• Track program participation and outcomes, reporting on effectiveness.
• Stay updated on current public health issues and best practices relevant to the Eastern Cape.
• Represent the organization at community health forums and events.
