Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Assistant Accountant in Randburg to support the finance team with core accounting duties. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and month-end close, with a hybrid work model combining office and remote tasks.

The ideal candidate has a solid accounting foundation, 1–3 years of experience, and is proficient in Pastel and QuickBooks. South African tax awareness is preferred, and collaboration is essential within a busy finance team.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Accounting or related financial field (NQF Level 6).
• 1–3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping role.
• Proficiency in Pastel and QuickBooks; strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely payments.
• Manage accounts receivable, invoicing clients and following up on payments.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with general ledger entries and journal postings.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and assist with VAT reconciliations.
