Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with HVAC design expertise to join their client in Klerksdorp, North West. You will perform load calculations, select equipment, and develop layouts using CAD tools to deliver efficient, standards-compliant systems.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2-5 years' HVAC design experience, proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, and HAP, and strong collaboration with architects and engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2–5 years of HVAC system design experience.
• Proficiency with HVAC design software (AutoCAD MEP, Revit MEP, HAP).
• Knowledge of local codes and energy standards.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, including load calculations and system sizing.
• Select HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, AHU, and diffusers.
• Develop detailed drawings for ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts using CAD software.
• Prepare specifications for HVAC systems and components.
• Ensure designs comply with local building codes and ASHRAE guidelines.
• Collaborate with architects and other disciplines to integrate HVAC into building design.
• Conduct site visits for assessments, inspections, and troubleshooting.
• Review contractor submittals and RFIs during construction.
