The ideal candidate has 5+ years in substation design, proficiency with ETAP or DIgSILENT, familiarity with SANS/IEC standards, CAD drawing skills, and a PE/Pr Tech Eng status is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substation design.
• Experience with HV/MV substation components and their applications.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and protection concepts.
• Familiarity with SANS, IEC and related standards for substation design.
• CAD software for electrical drawings is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer HV/MV substations, including layout, earthing, and protection schemes.
• Develop single-line diagrams, protection/control schematics, and equipment specs.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS/IEC standards and client requirements.
• Review vendor proposals and submittals for equipment.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and testing.
• Collaborate with project managers, civil engineers, and construction teams.
• Conduct site visits and maintain design documentation.
• Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
