The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 5–7 years of HV substation experience, proficiency in AutoCAD, and familiarity with Eskom standards and SA regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5-7 years of HV substation design/ construction experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and substation design tools.
• Knowledge of Eskom standards and South African electrical regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical layouts and schematics for high-voltage substations (up to 220kV).
• Specify substation components including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, busbars, and control systems.
• Perform engineering calculations including load flow, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
• Oversee and manage construction activities on substation project sites.
• Ensure compliance with Eskom standards, SANS, and electrical codes.
• Coordinate with civil teams, vendors, and contractors throughout project lifecycle.
• Conduct site inspections, QA checks, and commissioning activities.
• Troubleshoot design and construction issues with timely solutions.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and cost estimation.
