An exciting opportunity is available for a Human Resource Officer to join a dynamic organisation in Johannesburg.
The successful candidate will provide responsive and professional Human Capital support across the business, acting as a key point of contact for employees and managers while ensuring effective HR administration, employee relations and talent processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Capital Business Partnering & Service Delivery
- Act as the first point of contact for Human Capital-related queries within assigned business units.
- Provide professional guidance to employees on HR policies, procedures and processes.
- Support Human Capital Business Partners with the implementation of HR strategies and initiatives.
- Coordinate HR service delivery to support business efficiency.
- Liaise with employees and management to ensure smooth and effective HR operations.
- Contribute to HR process and system improvements.
Talent Administration & Coordination
- Coordinate the administrative aspects of recruitment, including documentation and approvals.
- Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Monitor probation periods and ensure managers are reminded of required reviews and check-ins.
- Facilitate employee movements including new appointments, transfers and promotions.
- Maintain accurate records of job descriptions, offers and employee engagement documentation.
- Prepare offers for new employees.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Manage and document basic employee relations matters, including absenteeism and performance-related issues.
- Assist with disciplinary processes, ensuring the required documentation and procedures are followed.
- Escalate complex employee relations matters to the appropriate senior HR or legal stakeholders.
- Monitor workplace trends and escalating employee concerns where necessary.
- Keep up to date with applicable South African labour legislation and communicate relevant changes.
HR Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information and records.
- Facilitate exit interviews and manage the employee exit process.
- Ensure employee movements and new engagement documentation are appropriately approved and submitted.
- Maintain the job description repository for the business unit.
- Collect and compile HR data and information for reporting purposes.
- Provide insights from employee records and exit interviews to support retention and engagement initiatives.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- National Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology or a related field.
- 2–4 years' experience in a Human Resources/HR generalist environment.
- Good understanding of South African labour legislation, including:
- Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
- Labour Relations Act (LRA)
- Employment Equity Act (EEA)
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
