Job summary

Maersk in South Africa is seeking an experienced HSE Business Partner to be based at Durban or Cape Town with oversight across sites. You will lead HSE strategy, governance and risk management, embedding safety in daily operations and driving continuous improvements.

Required qualifications include a National Diploma in Safety/Environmental Management or equivalent, 7+ years in warehousing/distribution HSE, and relevant safety certifications (SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH IGC).

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Safety and/or Environmental Management or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 7 years' experience in warehousing/distribution from a full-time HSE role across multiple sites.
• Certificate in safety management (SHEMTRAC, SAMTRAC, NEBOSH IGC, etc).
• Professional registration with SAIOSH and SACPCMP is advantageous.
• Solid knowledge of ISO 14001, 9001 and 45001 and OHSA/NEMA.

Responsibilities

• Drive implementation of the HSE strategy across assigned sites with strategic leadership and direction.
• Embed HSE into daily operations with site leads and management for operational excellence.
• Lead risk assessments, SWIs, MOC and non-conformance closure within the HSSE framework.
• Ensure compliance with SA legislation, maintain records and liaise with authorities.
• Conduct HSE audits, investigations and incident root-cause analysis with corrective actions.
• Monitor HSE metrics, report performance and support continuous improvement projects.
