Placements24 is seeking a proactive HSE Officer for Randburg, Gauteng, to uphold high Health, Safety and Environmental standards across operations. You will develop and implement HSE policies, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and deliver training.

The role requires 5+ years in HSE, SA regulations knowledge, and the ability to drive a strong safety culture onsite and with contractors. Travel to sites will be required, and you should be adept with HSE management software and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Min 5 years as an HSE Officer, upstream Oil & Gas experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SA HSE legislation and industry practices.
• Certifications such as NEBOSH or SAMTRAC are desirable.
• Excellent auditing, investigation, and risk assessment skills.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency in using HSE management software and standard office applications.
• Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies, procedures, and management systems.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver HSE training and awareness programs to employees and contractors.
• Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and permits.
• Advise management on HSE matters and support the implementation of risk reduction strategies.
• Prepare HSE reports, statistics, and performance metrics for management review.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
• Ensure appropriate emergency response plans are in place and regularly tested.

• Relevant certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, SAMTRAC) are highly desirable.
• Strong auditing, investigation, and risk assessment skills.
• Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency in using HSE management software and standard office applications.
• Willingness to travel to operational sites as required.
