Placements24 is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to lead the Health, Safety, and Environment department for operations in Upington. This senior role develops, implements, and oversees comprehensive HSE policies to ensure a safe and environmentally sound workplace, driving a strong safety culture across sites.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least seven years in HSE management within oil and gas, with NEBOSH/IOSH certifications preferred.

• 7+ years of progressive experience in HSE management within oil & gas.
• NEBOSH or IOSH certification is highly desirable.

• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.

• Manage emergency response planning and preparedness.

About the Role

You will drive a strong safety culture, manage risk assessment processes, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be a visible leader, committed to protecting personnel, assets, and the environment in a demanding operational setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic HSE management systems and programs across all operational sites.
• Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable national and international HSE regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for all employees and contractors.
• Manage emergency response planning and preparedness for the organization.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in HSE management within the oil and gas industry.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment techniques, and safety management systems.
• Experience in developing and implementing emergency response plans .
• Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
• Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively on-site in Upington and manage operational HSE challenges.
