Job summary

Red Ember Recruitment is seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Generalist to join our client’s HR team in Stellenbosch. This hands-on role combines the people side of HR with the technical accuracy of payroll to deliver a compliant and efficient service across the business.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in a generalist HR role with full payroll responsibility, strong knowledge of SA labour legislation, and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience in a generalist HR role with payroll responsibility.
• Sound knowledge of South African labour legislation BCEA, PAYE, UIF and COIDA.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills; payroll qualification is advantageous.
• Experience with SAGE 300, Pastel Evolution and ESS is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full fortnightly and monthly payroll cycle, including overtime and deductions.
• Prepare payroll reports and ensure accurate and timely statutory submissions.
• Handle submissions to SARS, UIF and COIDA; maintain data integrity.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes; interviews and offers.
• Provide HR support to managers and employees; maintain confidential records.
• Coordinate KPAs, training, employee development, wellness and engagement initiatives.
