Job summary

KingsleyIrons Recruitment Services CC is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the full Human Resources function for a well‑established financial services client in Cape Town. This standalone role covers payroll, governance, recruitment, performance, L&D, ER, and compliance.

The ideal candidate has a BCom in HR or related field and 5–7 years' HR Generalist experience, with strong BCEA/LRA knowledge and hands-on payroll expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce in HR, Industrial Psychology, Business Management or related field.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in a HR Generalist function.
  • Experience with payroll, statutory reporting, recruitment, training and development, performance management and ER.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong report writing.
  • Knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA, COIDA and related legislation.
  • Proficiency in PaySpace or similar HRIS; strong MS Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning and organisational abilities; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of the HR function.

Description / Synopsys:

Our client, a well-established financial services provider is seeking an experienced hands-on HR Manager to lead and manage the full Human Resources function.

This is a standalone HR generalist role reporting directly to the CEO and responsible for the full employee lifecycle, including strategic HR initiatives, payroll and remuneration management, recruitment, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, statutory compliance and HR governance. The successful candidate will provide trusted HR guidance and support to Management and employees while ensuring the effective delivery of Human Resources services in accordance with Company policies, employment legislation and business objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Degree or equivalent qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Management or a related field
  • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in a HR Generalist function
  • Proven experience managing payroll, statutory/regulatory reporting, recruitment, training and development, performance management and employee relations
  • Excellent verbal, written and report‑writing skills.
  • Sound knowledge of the BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA, COIDA and other applicable employment legislation.
  • Proficiency in PaySpace or a comparable HRIS/payroll system, and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities:

Strategic HR & Governance
  • Develop and implement annual Human Resources objectives and initiatives aligned to the Company's business objectives.
  • Develop, review and maintain Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Monitor HR risks, legislative developments and industry best practices, recommending improvements where required.
  • Prepare HR reports, dashboards and people analytics for Management and Board Committees, providing meaningful insights and recommendations to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Coordinate HR governance activities and provide administrative support to HR‑related committees.
  • Support strategic HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Organisation Design, Recruitment & Employee Lifecycle
  • Coordinate workforce planning to ensure staffing requirements align with business objectives and approved organisational structures.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, including advertising, screening, interviewing, background, qualification and reference checks, offers and appointments.
  • Coordinate onboarding, induction and probation processes to support successful employee integration.
  • Prepare and maintain job descriptions and support organisational design, job evaluation and position grading initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee movements, including appointments, promotions, transfers and terminations.
Performance, Talent & Development
  • Coordinate and manage the Company's performance management process.
  • Facilitate performance reviews, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) and performance reporting.
  • Coordinate succession planning with management.
  • Identify training and development needs in consultation with Management.
  • Coordinate learnerships, bursaries, study assistance and other employee development initiatives.
  • Capture and maintain all training information required for Skills Development reporting, including the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP), Annual Training Report (ATR) and B‑BBEE Skills Development reporting.
  • Maintain accurate training records, qualifications, certificates, attendance registers and employee development records.
Payroll, Remuneration & HR Information Management
  • Manage and process the monthly payroll.
  • Manage employee benefits, including the retirement fund, medical insurance, group life and other approved employee benefits.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and confidential employee records.
  • Support position grading and salary benchmarking exercises.
  • Extract/ Prepare payroll reports and management information.
  • Ensure the integrity, confidentiality and accuracy of payroll and employee information.
Employment Relations, Compliance & Risk Management
  • Provide advice and guidance to Management and employees on employment legislation, Company policies and HR best practices.
  • Manage disciplinary, grievance, incapacity, poor performance and retrenchment processes in accordance with Company policy and applicable legislation.
  • Submit statutory HR returns and reports, including EMP501, Return of Earnings (ROE), STATS SA surveys, Employment Equity reporting, WSP/ATR and other legislative submissions.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including the CCMA, Department of Employment and Labour, Compensation Fund, SARS, SETAs and other regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation and ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits
HR Operations
  • Manage the day‑to‑day Human Resources function and provide professional HR support to Management and employees.
  • Prepare employment contracts, addendums, confirmation of employment letters, salary letters, certificates of service and other HR‑related documentation.
  • Coordinate employee communication relating to HR policies, benefits, remuneration, organisational changes and other people‑related initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee wellness, engagement and recognition initiatives that promote a positive workplace culture.
  • Coordinate Health & Safety administration, including committee meetings, emergency procedures and accident or incident reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and service delivery, implementing continuous improvement initiatives where appropriate.
