Job summary

Protea Hotels by Marriott® in Durban is seeking a Non-Management, full-time Maintenance Technician to respond to guest repair requests and perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment. You will communicate with guests to resolve issues, inspect and service tools and machinery, and ensure safe operation of building systems.

The role requires a High school diploma or GED and a driver’s license, with preferred experience in hotel maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Hotel engineering or maintenance experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests.
• Communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and mechanical equipment.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines and carry necessary equipment.
• Identify and operate shut-off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts as needed.
• Follow company safety policies and report hazards or injuries.
