Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Hospital Environmental Services Supervisor for Queenstown Provincial Hospital in the Eastern Cape. You will lead the cleaning and sanitation team, ensure compliance with healthcare sanitation standards, and coordinate infection control efforts to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

The role requires strong leadership, at least five years in hospital environmental services, and a deep knowledge of disinfection protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in environmental services or housekeeping management within a hospital or healthcare setting.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare cleaning standards, infection control principles, and the use of hospital-grade disinfectants.
• Proven experience supervising and managing cleaning staff.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and regulatory requirements in a healthcare environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, including shifts and weekends.
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Queenstown, Eastern Cape area.

Responsibilities

• Supervise environmental services staff and ensure efficient cleaning operations.
• Develop, implement, and enforce cleaning and disinfection schedules for hospital areas.
• Ensure adherence to infection control policies to prevent HAIs.
• Conduct QA inspections to maintain hygiene standards.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, disinfectants, equipment, and PPE.
• Train staff on cleaning techniques and infection control measures.
• Respond to spills, biohazard incidents, or emergency cleaning needs.
• Collaborate with infection control, nursing, and admin to address environmental health concerns.
• Maintain records of cleaning activities, staff performance, training, and supply usage.
• Ensure all staff adhere to safety regulations and hospital policies.
