Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Healthcare Sanitation Coordinator for a prominent Benoni hospital in Gauteng. The role develops and oversees infection control and sanitation programs to protect patients, staff, and visitors.

You will lead the environmental services team, ensure regulatory compliance, train staff, and maintain detailed records of sanitization activities. The ideal candidate has healthcare sanitation experience, knowledge of cleaning chemicals and sterilization, and strong leadership

Qualifications

• Proven experience in healthcare sanitation, infection control, or environmental services management.
• In-depth knowledge of medical-grade cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and sterilization methods.
• Familiarity with healthcare regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
• Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities related to infection control.
• Ability to conduct thorough inspections and maintain detailed records.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive infection control and sanitation programs.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards (DOH, OSHA).
• Oversee daily operations of environmental services team; ensure efficient cleaning and disinfection.
• Conduct regular inspections of patient rooms, operating theaters, and common areas.
• Manage inventory of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and sanitation equipment.
• Train and supervise cleaning staff on procedures and infection control protocols.
• Monitor and report on sanitation program effectiveness and identify improvements.
• Investigate and respond to sanitation-related incidents or outbreaks.
