About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Horticulturalist to join their team in Centurion , contributing to the development and maintenance of high-quality horticultural operations. This position involves a blend of practical gardening, plant science, and potentially landscape design. You will be responsible for cultivating, propagating, and caring for a diverse range of plants, ensuring their health, aesthetic appeal, and optimal growth. This role is vital for maintaining the beauty and productivity of their horticultural projects, supporting a thriving green space within the Gauteng region. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants and a scientific approach to cultivation.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and maintain planting schedules and garden designs.
• Cultivate and propagate a variety of plants, including flowers, shrubs, trees, and potentially specialized crops.
• Monitor plant health, identify pests and diseases, and implement appropriate treatment strategies.
• Manage irrigation systems and ensure optimal watering conditions for all plant species.
• Perform pruning, trimming, and shaping of plants to maintain desired aesthetics and health.
• Advise on plant selection based on environmental conditions and aesthetic goals.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Horticulture, Botany, or a related plant science field.
• Proven experience in plant care, propagation, and garden maintenance.
• Knowledge of plant pathology , entomology, and integrated pest management (IPM).
• Experience with various horticultural tools and equipment, including pruners, mowers, and tillers.
• Understanding of soil science and fertilization techniques .
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
