Placements24 is seeking a Heritage and Conservation Architect for its client in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead surveys, conservation planning, and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings, ensuring materials, craftsmanship, and regulations align with best practices.

The role requires a Master’s in Architecture with Conservation and at least seven years of heritage-focused experience, plus registration with a relevant architectural body.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Architecture with Conservation or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in architectural practice with heritage focus.
• Deep knowledge of historical styles, materials, and conservation legislation.
• Portfolio of heritage conservation/adaptive reuse projects.
• Professional registration with a relevant architectural body.

Responsibilities

• Undertake surveys, conservation planning, and research for heritage sites.
• Develop plans for restoration and adaptive reuse projects.
• Prepare drawings, specs, and reports following best practices.
• Ensure compliance with heritage guidelines and charters (e.g., Burra Charter).
• liaise with heritage bodies, authorities, and clients; manage on-site works.
• Advise on materials/techniques; integrate new uses into historic structures.
• Contribute to firm knowledge sharing and manage timelines/budgets.
