Placements24 is seeking a skilled Heavy Machinery Mechanic to service and repair a fleet of heavy equipment in Mahikeng, North West. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform engine and component overhauls.

The role requires hands-on expertise with diesel engines, hydraulics, and diagnostic tools, with a focus on safety and productive uptime in demanding environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems in heavy machinery.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment for heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and detail orientation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in field conditions.

Responsabilités

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and inspections on heavy machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and cranes.
• Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines and transmissions as required.
• Maintain hydraulic systems including pumps, valves, and cylinders.
• Run diagnostic tests with specialised equipment and software.

About the Role

Our client, a leading company in the construction and mining equipment sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Machinery Mechanic and Servicing Technician to join their operational team in Mahikeng, North West, ZA . This role involves the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and servicing of a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and cranes. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, power trains, and electrical systems specific to heavy equipment. You will be responsible for performing both routine maintenance and complex repairs, ensuring the optimal performance and safety of the machinery used in demanding operational environments. This is a hands-on position requiring proficiency in diagnostic tools and mechanical expertise. Your contributions will be critical to maintaining the productivity and operational readiness of our heavy equipment fleet in the Mahikeng, North West, ZA region.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and inspections on heavy machinery.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on various types of heavy equipment.
• Overhaul and rebuild diesel engines, transmissions, and other major components.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Heavy Machinery Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems in heavy machinery.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and repair equipment specific to heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including working in various weather conditions and confined spaces.
• Valid driver's license.
• Relevant trade certification in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair is highly desirable.
• Experience working within the Mahikeng, North West, ZA region or similar operational areas is a plus.
