Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Technician for our client in George, Western Cape. You will perform heavy maintenance, line maintenance, and repairs on a range of aircraft, ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance.

The role requires a trade qualification, 5+ years of hands-on experience with large commercial aircraft, and current type ratings. You will work within a safety-focused team, maintaining meticulous records and supporting ongoing training and progression.

Qualifications

• Trade Certificate in Aircraft Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (e.g., Artisan Qualification).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, with a strong focus on heavy maintenance.
• Proven experience with large commercial aircraft (e.g., Boeing, Airbus families) is essential.
• Hold current and relevant aircraft type ratings and/or component ratings.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding technical manuals, service bulletins, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with SACAA regulations and standards.
• Excellent practical skills and a high level of manual dexterity.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding operational environment.
• Must be physically fit and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled heavy maintenance, line maintenance, and unscheduled repairs on various aircraft types.
• Conduct thorough inspections of airframes, engines, and related systems, identifying and rectifying defects.
• Interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings to guide maintenance activities.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic system issues.
• Replace or repair aircraft components and structures in accordance with approved technical data and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all maintenance performed, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians, supervisors, and quality assurance personnel.
• Participate in shift work and overtime as required to meet operational demands.
