Job summary

Placements24 in Bloemfontein is hiring a Head of Strength and Conditioning to design, implement and manage a world-class S&C program for athletes across multiple disciplines. You will lead a team of coaches, oversee facilities, and ensure athletes are prepared to maximize performance while minimizing injury risks.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field, 7+ years in strength and conditioning with 3+ years in leadership, and mandatory accreditation (CSCS/ASCA).

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in strength and conditioning.
• At least 3 years in a leadership or Head Coach role.
• Accreditation from CSCS, ASCA, or a recognized professional body is mandatory.
• Proven experience designing and implementing performance programs for elite multi-sport athletes.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Expert knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and injury prevention.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive, periodized strength and conditioning programs tailored to different sports and athletes.
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of strength and conditioning coaches.
• Oversee daily operations and maintenance of facilities, ensuring a safe training environment.
• Conduct athlete assessments to identify strengths, weaknesses, and injury predispositions.
• Collaborate with coaches, physiotherapists, and sports scientists for integrated development strategies.
• Stay current with research and best practices in sports performance and injury prevention.
• Manage the department budget, including equipment procurement and maintenance.
• Educate athletes and coaches on training techniques, nutrition, and recovery.
• Monitor progress and adjust programs to maximize performance and mitigate injuries.
• Contribute to the academy's broader athletic development strategy.
