Placements24 is seeking a strategic Head of Operations to oversee its logistics and supply chain network in Kimberley, Northern Cape. The role focuses on driving operational excellence across warehousing, inventory, transport, and distribution while leading a large team and partnering with procurement and sales to align operations with business goals.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in FMCG or retail SCM, strong leadership, and a data-driven approach to improve performance and cost

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in SCM, logistics or related field required.
• Master's degree is a plus for this senior leadership role.
• Proven track record in leading large logistics/operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement operational strategies for logistics and supply chain in Kimberley region.
• Oversee warehousing, inventory control, order fulfilment and transportation.
• Lead and develop a high-performance logistics team.
• Manage vendor relationships and contract negotiations with 3PLs.
• Drive adoption of SC technologies to improve visibility and reduce costs.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic player in the FMCG sector, is seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Operations to oversee their extensive logistics and supply chain network in **Kimberley, Northern Cape**. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive operational strategies for logistics and supply chain management within the **Kimberley** region.
• Oversee all aspects of warehousing, inventory control, order fulfillment, and transportation to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics and operations professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure the highest level of service from third-party logistics providers.
• Implement and utilize advanced supply chain technologies and systems to enhance visibility, reduce costs, and improve delivery times.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and implement strategies to optimize operational performance and achieve targets.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations across all operational sites.
• Manage operational budgets and P&L for the logistics and supply chain functions, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
• Collaborate with other departments, including procurement and sales, to align supply chain activities with business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
• A minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in operations and supply chain management, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven expertise in warehouse management, inventory control, and transportation optimization.
• Strong understanding of FMCG or retail supply chain dynamics.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and drive operational improvements.
• Proficiency with supply chain management software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
