Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client, a large and reputable conglomerate with diverse business interests in Kimberley, Northern Cape , is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Cleaning and Hygiene Services. This senior leadership role is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene across all company facilities and operations. You will lead a dedicated team, develop innovative strategies, manage budgets, and ensure strict compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing large-scale cleaning operations, strong leadership acumen, and a deep commitment to public health and safety. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive cleaning and hygiene strategies and policies for the entire organization in Kimberley .
• Lead, manage, and inspire a team of cleaning supervisors and staff, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to standards.
• Oversee all aspects of cleaning operations, including daily routines, deep cleaning schedules, waste management, and pest control.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure quality control, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage departmental budgets, including resource allocation, procurement of supplies and equipment, and cost control measures.
• Ensure strict compliance with all local, provincial, and national health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the cleaning and hygiene staff.
• Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices in cleaning and hygiene management.
• Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to sanitation, hygiene, and operational efficiency to senior management.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in cleaning and hygiene management, with at least 4 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven experience managing large teams and complex cleaning operations, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting in South Africa .
• In-depth knowledge of cleaning science, sanitation protocols, infection control, and safety regulations.
• Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget management and cost control.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and manage change effectively.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Environmental Health, Hospitality Management, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with facilities management software.
