Job summary

MyCareerCraft is seeking a hands-on, multi-skilled maintenance technician to carry out planned and reactive maintenance across our facilities in Durban. You will perform PPM tasks and respond to breakdowns, ensuring work is completed safely and to quality standards.

The role requires Matric, 3+ years in maintenance, and a broad skill set including plumbing, basic electrical, carpentry, painting, tiling and HVAC knowledge. A valid driver's license is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Matric required with 3+ years in maintenance or facilities.
• Practical skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, tiling and drywall.
• HVAC knowledge and preventative maintenance principles.
• Good understanding of maintenance tools and materials.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Valid driver's license and own transport advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) as assigned.
• Attend to breakdowns and reactive maintenance requests.
• Repair leaks, taps, valves, drains; replace lights and fittings.
• Perform basic electrical fault-finding within competency and safety rules.
• Repair/install doors, windows, shelves, cabinets and minor building works.
• Prepare surfaces, apply primer, paint and touch-ups.
• Install/repair laminate, vinyl and tile flooring.
• Conduct routine inspections, replace filters, lubricate equipment and identify hazards.
• Maintain external areas such as fencing, gates and gutters; complete work safely.

• Good understanding of maintenance tools, equipment and materials
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) assigned by the Senior Technician
• Attend to breakdowns and reactive maintenance requests
• Repair leaks, replace taps and valves, and unblock drains
• Replace lights and fittings, and do basic electrical fault-finding within your competency limits, in line with safety requirements
• Repair and install doors, windows, shelves and cabinets, and do minor building repairs
• Prepare surfaces and apply primer, paint and touch-ups
• Install and repair laminate, vinyl and tile flooring
• Do routine inspections, replace filters, lubricate equipment and identify safety hazards
• Assemble furniture and maintain external areas such as fencing, gates and gutters
• Complete all work safely, efficiently and to the required quality standard
