Job summary

Tsebo Solutions Group is seeking a versatile Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team in Durban. You will perform PPM activities, handle reactive maintenance, and ensure safe, quality repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and flooring tasks.

You'll inspect facilities, implement best practices, assist with preventive maintenance programs, and help maintain external areas. Grade 12 and 3 years in maintenance are required, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) is required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance, handyman, facilities, or building maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities assigned by the Senior Technician.
• Attend to reactive maintenance requests and breakdown repairs.
• Apply best operating practices and maintenance standards when carrying out repairs.
• Inspect facilities and identify maintenance requirements.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.
• Repair leaks and damaged pipework.
• Replace taps, valves, and plumbing fixtures.
• Unblock drains and perform general plumbing maintenance.
• Replace lights, fittings, and basic electrical components.
• Conduct basic electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting within competency limits.
• Ensure electrical work complies with safety requirements.
• Repair and install doors, windows, shelves, cabinets, and general woodwork.
• Undertake minor building repairs and maintenance activities.
• Carry out tiling, glazing, drywall, and finishing repairs as required.
• Prepare surfaces for painting.
• Apply primer, paint, and touch-up finishes.
• Repair surface defects before painting.
• Install and repair laminate, vinyl, and tile flooring.
• Replace damaged floor components where required.
• Conduct routine maintenance inspections.
• Replace filters, lubricate equipment, adjust fittings, and identify safety hazards.
• Assist with furniture assembly and installation tasks.
• Maintain external areas, including fencing, gates, gutters, and outdoor structures.
