Job summary

Guardian Recruiting (Pty) Ltd is assisting a Cape Town client to hire a hands-on Infrastructure & Systems Administrator to manage a diverse on‑premises stack, including Proxmox, databases, web services, telephony, and identity systems. You’ll patch, monitor, provision, and automate to keep systems running securely.

You’ll report to Head of IT and own day‑to‑day operations, with mentorship and escalation paths available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in systems/infrastructure administration across multiple areas
• Experience with Debian/Ubuntu or RHEL-family Linux
• Experience with virtualization platforms (Proxmox VE preferred)

Responsibilities

• Monitor Proxmox cluster and storage arrays with alerting
• Patch OS, apps, and security updates across Linux/Windows
• Manage VLANs, firewalls, and VPN access
• Administer MariaDB, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, ClickHouse, MongoDB, Apache/PHP, Nginx/OpenResty, Node.js/Python services
• Support telephony infrastructure (FreePBX, FusionPBX, OpenSIPS)
• Manage identity providers (FreeIPA, Keycloak, LDAP, AD)
• Own backups and DR documentation; verify restores
• Automate with Bash/Python/Ansible; document runbooks
