Job summary

Acumen Group in Cape Town seeks an experienced Accountant to join its finance team in the Green Point area. The role is hands-on, commercially minded and offers ownership of the accounting function.

You will manage day-to-day accounting, produce monthly management accounts, perform reconciliations, oversee GL/AR/AP, and assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management while driving AI and automation within finance.

Qualifications

• Relevant accounting/finance degree required.
• Completion of SAIPA or CIMA articles is essential.
• 2–4 years post-articles experience required.
• Experience from practice or commerce acceptable with relevant accounting exposure.
• Experience in logistics, manufacturing or FMCG is advantageous.
• Strong management accounting and financial reporting background.
• Experience with AI, automation or finance process improvement is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting and ensure accurate financial records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain schedules.
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management.
• Coordinate with external auditors and support year-end audits.
• Maintain internal controls, policies and procedures; seek automation opportunities.
