Job summary

Islamic Education Institute in Benoni seeks an experienced Head Chef / Kitchen Manager to oversee daily culinary operations, meal planning, and team supervision in a high-volume, halal-focused environment.

You will ensure HACCP-aligned hygiene, source halal-certified ingredients, manage inventory, and coordinate community events while delivering wholesome meals for students and staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in kitchen management or head chef roles in institutional/high-volume catering.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Islamic dietary laws across all prep, cooking, plating and storage.
• Plan and prepare high-volume daily meals for students, staff and residents, plus events.
• Develop cost-effective, nutritious weekly menus using halal-certified suppliers.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff in food safety, hygiene and halal handling.
