Job summary

HotelJobs is seeking a Guest Relations Officer for a luxury private game reserve near Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. You will support lodge operations and deliver exceptional service to guests.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years Front of House experience in a 5-star environment, strong English, and solid guest relations skills. A hotel management qualification and knowledge of F&B and front office operations are assets.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience in Front of House or similar position within a 5‑star lodge or luxury hospitality environment.
• Excellent spoken English with a professional and presentable manner.
• Strong guest relations and hosting skills, with Butler experience advantageous.
• Good knowledge of Food & Beverage Service, Housekeeping and Front Office operations.
• Computer literate, including intermediate-level Excel.
• Knowledge of Lightspeed, Sage Evolution and Protel advantageous; Driver’s Licence preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, common sense and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Support Lodge or Assistant Manager with daily lodge operations.
• Conduct housekeeping checks according to set standards.
• Assist with restaurant operations before and during meal services.
• Support service staff and ensure service standards are maintained.
• Check meal standards before dishes leave the kitchen.
• Manage guest check-ins and check-outs and attend to guest requests.
• Arrange additional services and supplies as requested by guests.
• Communicate issues and improvement ideas to senior lodge management.
• Assist with stock counts and weekly/monthly reporting.
