Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic in Benoni to maintain our fleet of airport vehicles and equipment, including baggage tractors, aircraft tugs, and passenger stairs. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep aircraft turnaround smooth and safe.

Ideal candidates have proven heavy equipment repair experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to read service manuals.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment or automotive repair.
• Knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical diagrams.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain airport security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, and preventative repairs on various GSE vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Execute necessary repairs, ensuring all work is performed to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and repairs performed.
• Ensure the workshop area is kept clean, organized, and safe at all times.
