Job summary

Unifi Africa in Stellenbosch seeks a Group Reporting Accountant to lead monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated reporting across the group's African entities.

You will work closely with country finance teams, ensure IFRS compliance, drive process automation, and support external audits while leveraging NetSuite and related finance systems to scale finance operations across Africa.

Qualifications

  • Registered with SAICA and post-articles experience.
  • Strong IFRS knowledge and ability to justify positions with auditors.
  • Hands-on with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite.
  • Ability to communicate complex finance matters clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Own monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated accounts and financial statements.
  • Coordinate with country finance teams for consistent reporting across the group.
  • Translate complex accounting issues into practical IFRS positions.
  • Support year-end audit with external auditors and groups teams.
  • Drive automation and efficiency in finance processes using NetSuite.

Purpose of the role

The Group Reporting Accountant reports to the Group Reporting Manager.You make sure Unifi’s group numbers are right and our reporting keeps getting better as we grow. You’ll work closely with finance teams across Africa, getting into the details, questioning how we do things and helping solve problems.You’ll make our reporting, systems and controls simpler, more consistent and more automated, so Finance can scale with Unifi.

Responsibilities
  • Own the preparation and review of Unifi’s monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated management accounts and financial statements
  • Work closely with country finance teams to make sure reporting is accurate, consistent and aligned across the group
  • Get into complex accounting matters and turn them into clear, practical technical accounting positions in line with IFRS and relevant requirements
  • Help drive the year-end audit with external auditors and country finance teams, keeping requests moving to get everything signed off on time
  • Represent Unifi in auditor, finance and leadership discussions when needed
  • Find opportunities to simplify and automate how Finance works, particularly through NetSuite and other finance systems
  • Partner with Group Financial Planning and Analysis on budgeting, forecasting and group-level variance analysis
  • Support tax, secretarial and statutory reporting requirements across the group
  • Build practical templates, tools and processes that help our country teams close accurately and on time, without creating unnecessary admin
  • Share knowledge and deliver practical training that strengthens accounting and reporting capability across our finance teams
  • Help move group reporting projects forward and contribute to how the wider Finance function evolves as Unifi grows
  • Perform quarterly valuations in line with group guidelines and make sure key calculations and KPIs are applied consistently across the group
  • Take ownership of NetSuite administration and its finance integrations, making sure our systems support how the business actually needs to work
  • Strengthen Unifi’s financial controls while keeping them practical, useful and as simple as possible
  • When something doesn’t look right, dig into it, ask questions and help fix it
  • When a country team needs a hand to meet a group deadline, roll up your sleeves and help get it done
Requirements
  • Registered with SAICA
  • 5+ years of post-articles accounting experience, including hands-on ownership of multi-currency, multi-entity consolidations
  • Strong IFRS knowledge and the confidence to stand behind your thinking with auditors and other stakeholders
  • Comfortable getting into the detail of an ERP system such as NetSuite and finding ways to make systems, processes and controls work better
  • A clear, practical communicator who can make complex finance matters easier for others to understand
  • Asks hard questions, challenges what doesn’t look right and speaks up early when things are going off track
  • Takes real ownership, cares about the detail and follows through on tasks
  • Brings high standards and discipline while always looking for simpler, faster and better ways of working
  • Works well across different countries, teams and ways of working
