Job summary

Faircape Life seeks a dedicated Groundsman for Bridgewater Manor, Somerset West, to maintain lush gardens, beds, trees and immaculate lawns, ensuring a welcoming estate for residents. You will handle pruning, mowing, weeding and general grounds upkeep in a high-end environment.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 08h00–17h00, with a 45-minute lunch. Market-related salary and benefits apply, based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications

• Matric advantageous
• 1 year of relevant gardening experience

Responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, flowerbeds, trees and lawns to keep estate immaculate
• Prune trees/shrubs and reinstate garden beds as needed
• Sweep and clean courtyards, pathways, and common areas
• Operate and maintain garden tools and machinery
• Collect leaves and manage yard waste
• Ensure irrigation and water usage complies with safety norms

We are seeking a dedicated Groundsman to join our team at Bridgewater Manor, Somerset West.
You will be responsible for maintaining lush gardens, vibrant flowerbeds, healthy trees, and immaculate lawns, ensuring the estate remains beautiful, well-kept and welcoming for our residents.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Garden Maintenance:

• Pruning of trees and overgrown shrubs
• Reinstate plant beds and garden redevelopment
• Turning over of plant beds
• Cutting of grass and trimming
• Weeding
• Hand/additional watering when required

Tools & Machinery:

• Inspecting tools before and after use (lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, brush-cutters)
• Cleaning all tools at the end of each days use
• Oil and sharpen blades of all cutting equipment

Refuse:

• Collecting of household refuse
• Sorting recyclable waste from general waste

• Cleaning and sanitising refuse bins
• Loading of garden-waste for disposal

Housekeeping/General:

• Clean workshop/canteen
• Clean around Body Corporate Reception, externally
• Open external dining area and courtyard umbrellas, weather permitting
• Clean grounds around security kiosk
• Inspect perimeter fence for weeds / vegetation, once per week
• Spray perimeter fence for weeds / vegetation, once per month

General Maintenance:

• Sweep synthetic turf in courtyards
• Sweep paved surfaces in courtyards
• Sweep paved area around Healthcare
• Collect leaves in courtyards

Qualifications

• Matric advantageous

Experience and knowledge

• 1 year's relevant experience in a similar role
• Knowledge of plants and gardening techniques
• Knowledge of horticultural machinery and tools (advantageous)
• Knowledge of irrigation systems (advantageous)
• Ability to perform basic grounds maintenance tasks
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects
• Understanding of health & safety rules

Working hours: Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. Faircape offers a market related salary. The salary will be dependable on experience, qualifications, skills and attributes.
