Placements24 is seeking an experienced Ground Operations Manager to oversee all ground handling at our Durban facility, ensuring safe, efficient aircraft, passenger, and cargo handling. You will lead a skilled team, shape operational strategies, and drive compliance with aviation safety regulations.

The role requires 5+ years in airport/airline ground operations management, strong leadership, and budget management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in airport or airline ground operations management.
• Proven track record of leadership and team management.
• Knowledge of IATA SACAA safety regulations and security procedures.
• Experience budgeting and P&L responsibilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all ground handling services, including baggage, aircraft turnaround, and passenger services.
• Develop and implement operational plans to optimize efficiency and reduce turnaround times.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Supervise, train, and mentor ground operations staff.
• Manage budgets and control operational costs.
• Liaise with airline representatives, air traffic control, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the maintenance and proper utilization of ground support equipment.
• Investigate and report on any operational incidents or accidents.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality.
• Monitor performance metrics and prepare operational reports.
