Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Ground Handling Supervisor to oversee airport operations in Soweto. You will lead a team, manage ramp activities, and coordinate baggage handling, aircraft marshalling, and passenger loading to ensure safe and timely turnarounds.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent organization, and knowledge of safety protocols. You will work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed in a dynamic airport environment, delivering reliable service and enforcing company

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; aviation/logistics certification is a plus.
• 3+ years in airport ground handling; 1+ year supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of ramp safety, aviation security, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct the daily activities of ground handling crews, ensuring all tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
• Manage aircraft ground movements and servicing, including baggage loading/unloading, cargo handling, and catering.
• Ensure strict adherence to all airport safety regulations, security procedures, and company policies.
• Coordinate with flight crews, air traffic control, and other airport stakeholders to ensure smooth aircraft turnarounds.
• Train and mentor ground handling staff, promoting best practices and high performance standards.
• Monitor equipment usage and maintenance, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
