About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Grid Integration Engineer to join their team based in Randburg . This role is central to ensuring the seamless and stable integration of renewable energy sources and other distributed energy resources into the existing power grid. You will provide technical leadership, conduct complex grid impact studies, and develop solutions that address grid stability, power quality, and operational reliability. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of power system dynamics, grid codes, and interconnection standards, coupled with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position offers a hybrid work model, enabling flexibility while facilitating crucial in-person collaboration for critical project planning and stakeholder engagements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of grid interconnection strategies for renewable energy projects and other distributed generation assets.
• Conduct comprehensive grid impact studies, including load flow, short-circuit analysis, transient stability, and frequency response assessments.
• Develop technical requirements and specifications for grid connection assets, such as transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant grid codes, standards, and utility interconnection agreements.
• Collaborate with utility operators, system planners, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project integration.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in power system engineering, with a focus on grid integration and renewable energy.
• In-depth knowledge of power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PowerFactory) and modeling techniques.
