Job summary

SFI Group seeks a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join its HVAC engineering team in Cape Town. The role focuses on practical exposure to mechanical systems, HVAC design, thermal analysis, and industrial projects, with mentorship from senior engineers.

You will assist with design, analysis, and documentation, perform heat transfer calculations, support duct sizing and system balancing, and participate in site inspections and commissioning as required.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles and design.
• Knowledge of mechanical system design and thermal analysis.
• HVAC system design, duct sizing, and airflow balancing.
• Heat transfer calculations and equipment selection.
• Industrial process systems and reliability engineering.
• Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting techniques.
• Engineering calculations and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design and analysis of mechanical systems for commercial and industrial projects.
• Perform thermal analysis and heat transfer calculations to support engineering designs.
• Assist with HVAC system design, including duct sizing, airflow calculations, and system balancing.
• Support equipment selection based on project specifications and engineering requirements.
• Participate in the design and optimisation of industrial process systems.
• Assist with reliability engineering, preventive maintenance planning, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, drawings, and other project documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, surveys, and commissioning activities where required.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver engineering solutions on time and within budget.
