Job summary

SGS in Sandton, Gauteng, South Africa seeks an Onsite Lab Project Manager to oversee modelling, proposals and delivery for onsite laboratories. You will model opportunities, coordinate with regional teams and gain sign-offs to drive client proposals and lab builds.

The role requires a geology/mineralogy background, strong business and personnel management, and the ability to lead multiple projects in a high-paced, global environment. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in a Science or Engineering related program with a Geosciences focus.
• Experience in geosciences with some business management/personnel management aspects.
• Strong working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry.
• Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Works well under pressure.
• Global travel may be required.
• Ability to work with and lead a team.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Additional languages beyond English (e.g., French, Spanish) are valuable.

Responsibilities

• Review, assess and create financial models and proposals for new and existing onsite laboratories.
• Model onsite opportunities using information from regional teams.
• Obtain technical and operational sign-off of the developed model.
• Prepare technical proposals and/or tender submissions for onsite opportunities.
• Communicate with clients to develop onsite opportunities and negotiate to win.
• Schedule and track new onsite laboratory designs, builds and renovations and expansions.
• Confirm and monitor laboratory equipment purchasing to meet global standards and project timelines.
