Job summary

CF & I Consulting seeks a Senior Geochemistry Laboratory Manager to lead geochemistry operations for mines across Southern Africa. The role emphasizes quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and cost efficiency while maintaining accreditation standards.

You will drive process improvements, report on performance, and provide technical leadership to regional lab teams, ensuring timely data delivery and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall leadership, planning, coordination, and management of Geochemistry laboratory operations for mines within Southern African Region.
• Ensures all laboratory operations are conducted efficiently and effectively while meeting quality, health, safety, environmental, and financial objectives.
• Promotes and maintains a strong culture of Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (QHSE) within the region.
• Ensures compliance with relevant environmental regulations relating to air emissions, waste management, water usage, and soil protection.
• Ensures prompt reporting, investigation, and corrective action implementation for all health, safety, environmental incidents, and concerns.
• Oversees laboratory compliance with ISO 17025 accreditation requirements.
• Ensures the delivery of accurate, reliable, and defensible analytical data that meets requirements and accreditation standards.
• Reviews existing methodologies and recommends improvements to maintain technical excellence and laboratory competitiveness.
• Ensures all quality documentation, procedures, and records remain current, controlled, and compliant.
• Accountable for achieving agreed production targets, turnaround times, and service delivery commitments.
• Monitors operational performance and resource utilization to optimize productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
• Provides technical leadership and expert guidance to laboratory management teams and client services functions.
• Supports the preparation of quotations, proposals and tenders.
• Accountable for the financial performance and profitability.
• Develops and manages operational plans in alignment with approved budgets.
• Reviews monthly financial performance with laboratory managers and implements corrective actions where required to achieve budget targets.
• Provides strong leadership, coaching, and direction to laboratory managers across the region.
• Fosters a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence.
