Job summary

SGS is seeking an Onsite Laboratory Project Manager in South Africa to review, assess and create financial models and proposals for onsite laboratories, consulting with clients and SGS regional staff.

The role involves planning, scheduling and coordinating new lab builds, startups and renovations, ensuring purchases meet global standards and timelines. Strong Geoscience background and project leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• University degree in a Science or Engineering related field, with strong preference for Geosciences.
• Some technical experience in geosciences with business/people management.
• Strong working knowledge of the mining and minerals industry.
• Proven time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple projects.
• Global team involvement may require extended/irregular hours.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; other languages valuable.

Responsibilities

• Model onsite opportunities using regional data to build financial models.
• Coordinate with regional management for technical and operational sign-off of models.
• Prepare technical proposals or tender submissions for onsite lab opportunities.
• Communicate with clients to develop onsite laboratory opportunities and negotiate wins.
• Schedule and track new onsite laboratory designs, builds, renovations and expansions.
• Monitor equipment purchasing to ensure alignment with global standards and timelines.
