Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our client’s team in Sandton, Gauteng. The role is full-time and on-site, focusing on managing geotechnical projects from inception to completion, including site investigations, testing coordination, design, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will have a strong geotechnical technical background, 5+ years of experience, and excellent client-facing communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's preferred with geotechnical focus.
• Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience with project management exposure.
• PrEng registration or eligibility is advantageous; valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Manage geotechnical projects including scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
• Oversee site investigations (drilling, CPT, trenching) and laboratory testing coordination.
• Perform geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Prepare clear, concise geotechnical reports and provide client liaison on assigned projects.
• Provide technical guidance to junior staff and ensure adherence to standards.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent geotechnical and civil engineering consultancy, is seeking an enthusiastic Geotechnical Project Engineer to join their dedicated team in Sandton, Gauteng, ZA . You will be responsible for managing a range of geotechnical projects from inception to completion, including site investigations, laboratory testing coordination, design, and reporting. Key Responsibilities

• Manage geotechnical projects, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
• Oversee site investigations, including drilling, CPT, and trial pits.
• Coordinate and review laboratory testing programs for soil and rock materials.
• Perform geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Prepare clear and concise geotechnical investigation and design reports.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients and stakeholders on assigned projects.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and site personnel.
• Ensure quality control and adherence to relevant standards and regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree with a geotechnical focus is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with demonstrated project management experience.
• Proficiency in geotechnical design software and interpretation of site investigation data.
• Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and slope stability analysis.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client management skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration or eligibility is highly advantageous.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites within the region.
