Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to provide expertise for construction projects around Centurion, Gauteng. You will analyze soil and rock conditions, assess bearing capacity, settlement and slope stability, and develop practical recommendations for foundations and earthworks.

Collaborating with site teams, design engineers and contractors, you will conduct field investigations, supervise lab testing, and prepare detailed geotechnical reports.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of geotechnical investigations and design experience.
• Strong knowledge of soil and rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Experience with field investigations and laboratory testing procedures.
• Proficiency with geotechnical software (Plaxis, GeoStudio).

Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations including soil borings and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil/rock data for bearing capacity, settlement, and slope stability.
• Develop geotechnical reports with foundation and earthworks design recommendations.
• Provide on-site technical support during construction, including inspections.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to provide essential expertise and support for their construction projects in and around Centurion, Gauteng . This role is critical for ensuring the stability and safety of foundations, earthworks, and infrastructure by analyzing soil conditions and providing expert recommendations. You will work closely with site teams, design engineers, and contractors to solve complex geotechnical challenges and mitigate risks. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive geotechnical specialist to contribute to the successful execution of diverse construction endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site investigations, including soil borings, sampling, and in-situ testing, to assess subsurface conditions.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data to determine bearing capacity, settlement potential, and slope stability.
• Develop detailed geotechnical reports with design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Provide on-site technical support during construction phases, including foundation inspections and earthworks quality control.

• Perform risk assessments related to geological hazards and recommend mitigation strategies for projects in the Centurion area.

Requirements
