Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Experience with site investigations and laboratory testing interpretation.
• Proficiency in GeoStudio and PLAXIS.
• Knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with mining-related geotechnical challenges is a plus.
• Familiarity with Mossel Bay area geology.
• Professional registration with ECSA highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including drilling and in-situ testing.
• Analyze soil and rock samples through laboratory testing and interpret results.
• Perform geotechnical design for foundations, slopes, retaining walls, and earthworks.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, including findings, analyses, and recommendations.
• Assess geological hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
• Provide technical guidance during the construction phase to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
• Develop cost estimates for geotechnical investigations and designs.
• Stay abreast of advancements in geotechnical engineering principles and technologies.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
